Good evening all!

I had fully intended on coming here tonight to post that I was going to wait until 8am tomorrow to make the call to have or not to have our games tomorrow to see what the weather did. Unfortunately, we were thrown another curveball at 5pm today when I checked my NMMLC email and had a note from Cherokee Recreation and Parks Association letting me know that the water was out at Patriots Park and no bathroom facilities would be available save for a few porta-potties that had been put on site until the water issue could be resolved.

Upon reception of the email, I decided to head down to the park to see if the porta-potties might have sufficed. I met Robert there where we surveyed the situation and, unfortunately, there is one handicap accessible unit and it really wasn’t of a size to accommodate a wheelchair bound athlete, their chair and another adult to assist them. The additional two porta-potties were absolutely not handicap/special needs friendly and, additionally, there was no running water in the units to facilitate handwashing after the fact.

Given the confluence of the potential weather conditions as well as the lack of running water and restroom facilities and after discussion with Robert, unfortunately, I have to make the decision to cancel our games tomorrow.

I have asked CRPA when the water issue will be resolved and, hopefully, it will be fixed by next Saturday April 8th so we can have our opening game moved to then.

We never like canceling games, however, given the water issue and the pending weather conditions, I would rather let everyone know early so you can make the most of tomorrow rather than waiting on a decision to be made and then having to modify your day on the fly.

I will be sending out text messages as well to everyone via our SMS system so you will see a short message here soon on your phones indicating a very shortened version of this information.
